Although I’d already read this, it was very interesting to re read today as I’ve been discussing Asda’s whole vegan Turkey with legs! that is available this year, people seems to have very strong opinions on a lump of plant protein!
P.S. equally why does a lot of meat look nothing like what it is? I mean with a a turkey twizzler as a prime example of something so separate & devoid of anything resembling a turkey or indeed a piece of meat of any sort!
I was reading an article yesterday about a cattle rancher gone vegan and how he struggled with his own feelings, how he felt alienated from his friends, family, disloyal to his heritage.
I’m imagining such emotions are highlighted at special gatherings
Such an emotive subject on all 'sides' worthy of a calm open -hearted conversation! Jonathan Safran Foer's book 'Eating Animal' is very good on this, especially when he talks of his Grandmother, a Holocaust survivor who had to survive on meagre amounts of food escaping persecution, & who struggled to understand his & his family's choice to go vegetarian. A very complex issue.
