As inspired by
and ’s lists here is my weekly update of things I have been enjoying lately! These ‘Fine Things’ date back to July 2023 - back in the summer of last year I seemed to enjoy bouncing and ‘Stand on the Word’ - I still like both of these things. I also occasionally feature Guest Posts on ‘Fine Things’ as per this one (from David Horgan Art). I’d love to hear what’s currently inspiring you so do comment below. For those new to the newsletter here’s a piece about my book Roaming Wild, the Founding of Compassion in World Farming which currently has a special offer of 20 % off! This can be activated via the publishers site here by typing in ROAM20 at checkout. Here’s a piece from the archives about spirituality (because Easter is nigh) and here’s something random. As always thanks so much for reading! You can support this newsletter by Buying Me a Coffee (as below), or by passing it along. 🙏🙏🙏🙏Reading! author Melissa Broder’s hilarious and important essay in Harper’s Bazaar on the trillion dollar wellness industry.
Watching! Scene and Heard theatre. Last Saturday I went to an incredible 25th anniversary Scene and Heard production - what a fantastic, surreal, joyful and hilarious selection of plays! 'Scene and Heard ' is a theatrical mentoring charity that offers children from Somers Town (Camden) to develop play-writing skills via workshops with professional actors. This is such a brilliant program and this post can't do their work justice so do check them out.
Going! on Artist's Dates. As inspired by the inimitable Julia Cameron. Last week I went on an artists date to Watkin’s esoteric bookstore in Cecil Court, London and then to Foyles bookshop for vegan banana bread and coffee, it was the best thing ever!
Listening! to and watching the Edge of Seventeen official video by Fleetwood Mac. It is 8 minutes, 33 seconds of gloriousness. Stevie’s high-kicks, her ensemble, that voice. (It makes a lot of sense that she was cast as High White Witch in TV show American Horror Story, that energy is powerful.)
