I loved Drive Your Plough ... so much that I've read it three times! And found something new to discover each time. Have you read Pig Tales by Marie Darrieussecq? It's a disturbing novel. And I don't know quite what to make of it.

Oh Kim, wow, I can definitely imagine reading it again & again! I immediately 'made' David read it in fact so that we could discuss. Intrigued to read her other works now too. I have just Googled 'Pig Tales', very interesting indeed & looks as it it ticks a lot of my literary/cultural boxes ...added to the ever growing TBR pile.

Apparently reading for pleasure is in decline! Can you suggest/recommend one or two books for upcoming holiday in Malta?

A sorry state of affairs! Apparently book sales increased over pandemic but since the three items that are selling in the West are: Crocs, Levis & Taylor Swift tix! Anyhow, I'm tempted to say 'The Maltese Falcon' (which I've never read but the film was wonderful)! Also 'The Island' by Ana Maria Matute, (set in Mallorca, Franco-era, coming of age, doesn't sound like a 'beach read' but beautifully told & island themed). I also like 'The Truman Capote reader' collection great travel sketches & glitz!
